On Saturday 15 April 2023, after the annual memorial service, the SAVFFM met for its Annual General Meeting and elected a new Committee.
Outgoing committee members
After more than 20 years at the helm, Rex Hall did not stand for re-election as Chairperson.
Rex’s contribution to the Committee cannot be overstated, and the Committee express their enormous gratitude for Rex’s enduring guidance. Rex was unable to attend the AGM due to ill health, but sent the following message to the Committee through the Chairman’s report:
This will be my last report as Chairman as I am handing the reins over after some 20 plus years as Chairman of the SAVFFM and its predecessors. As my health begins to fail me, I feel it is time to take a step back. My hope is that the team we have will continue to forge ahead with seeing our Museum fully established and that my dream will some day come true. I would like to thank all that have supported me through this journey and hope that they will continue to support future committees with as much passion and vigour as has been provided to me.

Thanks also go to Tony Hill who retired from the Committee. Tony’s energy and technology expertise have been invaluable to the Committee over the past years. In particular, Tony’s efforts to maintain the SAVFFM website, re-launch the website, and establish the committee’s social media presence have enabled the Committee to reach a wide audience and share the history and memories of the CFS family across the community. The Committee wish Tony all the best with his retirement!
