The SA Volunteer Firefighters Museum now has a new sponsor board thanks to the generosity of members of the local community. Helen and Ralph Scheel of Eucaleuca Native Services donated $500 for timber towards a board, but only part of that has been used so far. Naracoorte True Value Hardware donated the material for the backboard while Diversity Signs’ Alex Van Leuven did the sign writing for free.
The board was built by Ern Anderson with the museum needing only to pay for the extra timber around the side of the board. The board will feature the names of the museum’s platinum, gold, silver and bronze sponsors and is up at the Naracoorte Showgrounds Cartwright Pavilion, pending the museum being built. Although there are a couple of sponsors already on the board, museum chairman Rex Hall said no names were on the board yet. He thanked all involved in the creation of the board along with his working party who helped transport it around and put it up. A second board, designed to be an honour board, will be made using the leftover funds from the Eucaleuca donation. Mr Hall said a development application was before the Naracoorte Lucindale Council to build the museum at the Smith St site which was secured earlier this year.
